Janice’s passion for numbers and finances started as early as 12 years old. One of five siblings, her parents taught her the art of stretching a dollar and she learned the importance of budgeting when her mother would let her “pay the family bills,” allowing her to write checks and add up the numbers. After college, Janice began her professional career in accounting roles but soon realized that something was missing. Upon finding her niche in financial planning, she quickly realized she had found the right profession – connecting numbers and people together in meaningful ways. Having experienced a divorce, as well as the loss of both parents and two sisters, Janice truly believes that her tribulations have made her a more empathetic financial planner for her clients. She has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner since 1988, joining Law & Associates, Inc. in 1994. She took ownership of the firm in 2016 and currently serves as Chair/CEO (Law) and Branch Manager (RJFS).

Janice received her B.S. in Business Administration (1986) from Columbia Union College and CFP^® designation (1994) from the College for Financial Planning. She is a registered securities principal through Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. and holds the designation of Investment Management Consultant from Raymond James’ Institute of Investment Management Consulting (IIMC). Janice has served on Raymond James’ Compliance Advisory Council and Client Experience Technology Advisor Council. She holds a Virginia license for life and health insurance as well as variable annuities. She continues to be an active member of the National Capital Area Chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) as well as the Financial Services Institute (FSI). She has also been a speaker at the Raymond James Financial Services National Conferences for Professional Development.

A native of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, Janice loves spending time with her two nephews and is very active in their lives, particularly after the loss of their mother (Janice’s sister). She has a love of animals and her dog, Daisy, serves as Law & Associates’ Director of Happiness. A graduate of Shenandoah Valley Academy, Janice has served on its Board of Trustees and the school’s Finance Committee for many years. She was also the project manager of a major renovation for both the church and school. She presently serves on the Board of Education for the Potomac Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
